The Vans team has set ambitious sustainability goals. Every effort, big or small, leads to positive change. To obtain the Checkerboard Globe logo, at least 30% of the product must be made of one or more recycled, renewable and/or remanufactured materials.
Product characteristics:
UPPER MATERIAL: made from leather products that support responsible manufacturing through the Leather Working Group (www.leatherworkingroup.com) and 100% recycled PET fabrics.
INSOLE: The new midsole is made of at least 50% bio-based EVA foam partially derived from plant sources according to ASTM D6866-16 testing standard.
SOLE: All of the rubber used to make the VR3Waffle™ sole (60% of the compound) is regeneratively grown natural rubber sourced from farms that use practices to promote biodiversity, improve water cycles as well as enhance soil health and/or soil carbon uptake. This natural rubber compound was developed and designed to maintain the grip and durability that Vans is famous for (since ’66).
